EUSTACE–”Texas Country Reporter” is a show that has been on for 52 years. It started out as a little segment on a Dallas news channel. Over the years it has grown to be an icon in the state. To be asked to be on the show means you have accomplished something rare and worth sharing. Chef Cassy from Eustace can now say she has had that experience.
The focus of the vignette was how Jones entered in the catering business with a food truck, which then lead to a brick and mortar in Eustace. The story showed Jones cooking her famous deep fried collard greens at her vendors booth at the State Fair of Texas. To watch the show visit https://tcr.texasmonthly.com.
Family and friends came to the watch party which was at Chef Cassy’s Kitchen in Eustace. Friends that Cassy has known for 35 years showed up to support her and watch the show, not to mention have food that she prepared for the party.
The restaurant was full of cheering fans as the show began. Seeing their favorite chef and hearing her story brought many of her guest to tears. Jones guests gave a thunderous applaud when the show ended.
Jones spoke to the crowd when the show was over, saying her thank you’s to all who attended. She then announced her application to be a vendor at the 2025 state fair was not accepted this year.
