SEVEN POINTS–In a series of updated press releases by Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse, the sheriff stated that three individuals have been arrested in connection to the ongoing murder investigation in Seven Points.
The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) received information May 26 in reference to Jimmy Dean Oldfield who had been missing since May 11. HCSO was advised of the location of the missing person’s truck and body. Oldfield was reported missing to HCSO May 15.
Investigators were able to corroborate the information they received by locating the missing person’s truck at a residence off of Highway 85 outside of Seven Points. The truck had been cut into several pieces. Investigators collected evidence at this location and presented Henderson County 392nd Judicial District Judge Scott McKee with an affidavit for a search warrant for a residence and property off of Green Tree Acres Road and an arrest warrant for Steven Clowdus, 42, for tampering with physical evidence. Judge McKee issued both warrants and preset bail for Clowdus at $500,000. The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Team secured the residence and property to be searched on Green Tree Acres Road.
Investigators began a search of the property and were assisted by the Texas Rangers and the Henderson County District Attorney’s Office. While searching the property, investigators received information in reference to Clowdus’s location. Deputies along with the tactical team responded to the reported area. Deputies were able to locate Clowdus driving a vehicle and he was stopped and arrested on the outstanding arrest warrant without incident. Clowdus was then transported to the Henderson County Jail.
While searching the property investigators were able to uncover a hand dug grave that contained a then unidentified body. Henderson County Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Kevin Pollock arrived at the scene to conduct an inquest and ordered the body to be taken to American Forensics in Dallas for an autopsy. American Forensics confirmed the body was that of Jimmy Dean Oldfield May 27, who was the reported missing person.
The investigation continued and May 27 investigators were able to obtain arrest warrants for three subjects in connection with the murder investigation from Judge Scott McKee.
Warrants were issued for Steven Joe Clowdus, 42, William David Hux, 47, and Dalan Joe Clowdus, 22, for the offense of engaging in organized criminal activity to commit murder. Hux was also charged with tampering with physical evidence.
Hux was arrested at his residence and transported to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and Dalan Clowdus turned himself into the Sheriff’s Office.
HCSO states that this is an active investigation and more information will be released as the investigation develops.
