United effort saves driver in car fire

LOG CABIN–Memorial Day could have proven deadly for a driver involved in an accident that led to a vehicle fire according to social media posts. The quick action on the part of passing motorists and local fire departments saved what could have been a certain tragedy.
According to reports, at approximately 9:45 a.m.  May 29, Log Cabin Fire Department received a call regarding a vehicle that had left the roadway and was upside down and on fire with a trapped person still inside. Caney City Fire Department was called for assistance to the 1600 block of FM 3054. Eustace Area volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
According to reports, Log Cabin Council member Aaron Scott, his son Blake and several passers by worked to free the entrapped person and moved him to safety as fire units arrived. Working in concert, the vehicle was extinguished and a landing zone established where UT Health EMS Air I landed and then transported the individual to UT Health Tyler. Reports state that the burns were not serious thanks to the joint effort of all involved.
Departments responding included Log Cabin, Caney City and Eustace Fire Departments, UT Health EMS, Log Cabin Police Department and Texas DPS
