Mabank High School senior Trista Etheridge runs the Oct. 21 Regional race at Grand Prairie in 11:59 to qualify for State.
GRAND PRAIRIE–Mabank High School cross country Coach Tracy Carter proudly shares that Mabank senior Trista Etheridge finished fifth overall Oct. 21 at the Region II Class 4A cross country meet at Lynn Creek Park at Joe Pool Lake and will run Nov. 1 at the State meet.
Etheridge, who was last year’s Regional champion, finished with a time of 11:59 to secure her second-straight State meet qualification. The University Interscholastic League State country meet is held at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, north of Austin.
Both the Mabank boys’ and girls’ teams competed at the Oct. 21 Regional meet, but were unfortunately not able to advance, according to Carter. Senior boy Pablo Garcia did run an impressive 17:19, his coach reports, good enough for 22nd overall, just a one-place finish from advancing individually to State along with Etheridge.
