A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the upcoming renovations to the Kaufman County Courthouse in downtown Kaufman June 5. Over the next year, the county will invest $8.3 million into restoring and improving the interior of the building. The renovation will be led by Kitchell and McGough Construction and also comes with no expense to taxpayers. When completed, the newly renovated courthouse will hold 15 different county offices, according to Kaufman County Judge Jakie Allen. The current Justice Center will still serve the majority of court proceedings, as well as housing some county offices.
