The story of the ‘’Big Blue Chair’’ started when beautification members Lana Lockwood and Shelley Coleman spotted a ‘’big chair’’ while on vacation in Gulf Shores in 2024. The ladies thought ’how cool would it be to have one in GBC.’’ The chair did not happen overnight…and after much discussion and planning, the ladies were ready to get started,  but….. Gun Barrel City Beautification Committee did not do this project alone. The committee wants to thank G. l. Design who did the graphic designing, Scott Coleman giving 50 hours of his time in the building of the chair, Lowe’s for the donation of all the materials needed for building the chair, beautification ladies for jumping in with the painting, the artists Elizabeth Murphy and Debbie Custard for painting the beautiful butterfies, Gun Barrel City park and street department – for all their time and assistance, B&S Printing  - thank you Brenda and Herman Custard – for the manpower moving the chair on the flatbed twice. Debbie Custard – thanks for the photo ipod... so….it is with immense pride the gun barrel city beautification committee dedicates the ‘’big blue chair’’ for the entire community to enjoy.
