MALAKOFF–Malakoff High School’s Tiger baseball and Lady Tiger softball teams are well-represented on the District 18-3A list of superlatives, Malakoff members of which were released by the school May 22.
The baseball team won the district championship and defeated Grandview for a Bi-District championship while the softball team beat Whitney in the playoffs for a Bi-District title.
Mike Jones is the District Most Valuable Player for baseball, while teammate Jack Hustead is the District 18-3A Offensive MVP. For Lady Tigers softball, Cam Gaddis is the district’s Offensive Player of the Year, with teammate Alabama Anding named Defensive Player of the Year. The District 18-3A Softball Newcomer of the Year is Malakoff’ s Kylie Miller.
For the Tiger baseball team, Jaxson Jedlicka is a First-Team All-District pitcher, while Asa Mondragon and Wyatt Wallace are First-Team outfielders. First-Team Lady Tiger infielders include Makayla Kijanowski and Kylee James, with Ava Perkins and Remi McGuffey joining those two on the First Team as outfielders.
Second-Team All-District Lady Tiger softball players feature infielder Avery Austin and outfielder Kaitlyn Massingill. Second-Team Tiger baseball players include Cooper Stegall as a pitcher, infielders Judson McNaughton, Parker Poteete and Bugg Jones, as well as Loden Jamison at catcher.
On the Honorable Mention list are Lady Tigers Kendall Ray and Brianna Mott.
