Mabank beats Van in return to home field

The Mabank Panthers baseball team, coaches and trainers are all smiles after beating the Van Vandals by the score of 9-6 in District play, as the team had played a slate of consecutive contests out of town while the Mabank High School baseball field had infield improvements tweaked, as well as other upgrades added already such as the outfield wall. Welcome back, Panthers.

Pamela Jean Whitton Butler, 65, lovingly known as “Grandma,” passed away March 5, 2026. She was born in Tulare, Calif., and had made her home on Cedar Creek Lake since 1992, where she built a life centered on faith and family.
Pamela was known for her generous heart and her constant desire to give without ever asking for anything in return. Her strong faith in God guided her, and she believed deeply in the power and importance of family. She poured that love into every gathering, every conversation, and every quiet act of kindness.

Ronald “Ronnie” Capehart

Ronald “Ronnie” Capehart, 78, of Kemp went to be with the Lord March 8, 2026.
Ronnie was born June 28, 1947, in Dallas to Chester and Margaret (Fields) Capehart. He graduated from Spruce High School in 1966 and later attended Trinity Valley Community College (formerly Henderson County Junior College), where he played football.
Ronnie dedicated most of his adult career to public service, working for the City of Dallas and the City of Mesquite. He was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to connect with people everywhere he went.
