KEMP–The Kemp Lady Jackets hosted district action March 29, welcoming the Blooming Grove Lady Lions. A pleasant Friday afternoon in Kemp saw the Lady Lions flex their offensive muscles and hold the Lady Jackets at bay in a 10-0 game.
The Lady Lions plated a run in the top of the first inning to lead early, 1-0. They would extend the lead to 5-0 with four runs in the top of the third. Laci Johnson started by capitalizing on a throwing error with an inside-the-park home run, Ava Eldridge scored McKenna Davis and Carli Cunningham with a 2-run RBI double and Brooke McGraw had an RBI single. Kemp got out of the inning with a flyout, McGraw was thrown out at home and Emma McAda tossed a strikeout.
With two outs in the top of the fourth, Eldridge’s 2-run RBI single built Blooming Grove’s lead to 7-0. The top of the fifth inning saw an RBI triple from both Eldridge and McGraw to make it 9-0. The Lady Lions would finish their scoring with Johnson’s RBI double in the top of the seventh inning to lead 10-0 and that would be the final score as Blooming Grove shut out the Lady Jackets.
