EUSTACE–The Eustace Bulldogs topped the Farmersville Farmers in their 2022 season opener in thrilling fashion with a 27-21 overtime victory Aug. 26 at home.
The Farmers opened the scoring with a long 65-yard touchdown reception by Colton Harbin as they took an early 7-0 lead over the Bulldogs in the opening minutes.
The Bulldogs responded on the ensuing kickoff as Justin Abbe returned the kick 80 yards for a touchdown to tie the game 7-7. 
The Bulldogs increased their lead with a lengthy 27-yard touchdown run by Cannon Kilcrease to give Eustace a 13-7 lead after a missed point after attempt. 
Farmersville also received a kickoff return for a touchdown courtesy of a 95-yard run by Jeralin Craddock to cut the Eustace lead to 21-14. 
After a late turnover by the Bulldogs on a fumble in their territory, the Farmers capitalized with a three-yard touchdown run to tie the game and send it to overtime.
The Bulldogs got the final say as they took down the Farmers with a score in the fifth quarter on a 21-yard touchdown run, winning 27-21 to open the season.
The Bulldogs open their 2022 season at 1-0 and look to continue their winning ways as they take on Maypearl for their homecoming game with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m., Sept. 2.
