Kerens, Cross Roads softball players named All-State

KERENS and CROSS ROADS–Two players each from the 2024 Cross Roads and Kerens high school softball teams have been named to the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 2A All-State softball squad.
For Cross Roads, Alanah Logan is a second-team All-State performer as a pitcher, while her teammate Brook Locke makes the Class 2A All-State second team as an outfielder. Both were Co-MVPs of their district, 20-2A. Cross Roads went 31-10-1 for the season, was the undefeated district champion at 12-0 and was a Class 2A Regional Finalist, making it through the playoffs five rounds before falling to Beckville in late May.
For Kerens, Rylee Spivey is an Honorable Mention All-State Class 2A performer as a pitcher, with teammate Brooke Sikes making the Honorable Mention list as a first baseman. Kerens, who went 23-12 in 2024 and who also are in District 20-2A, won the Bi-District championship over Hawkins in late April before falling to McLeod in the Area round.
Spivey went 11-7 for the season and struck out 199 batters. Sikes hit .410 for the season, notching 19 singles, 10 doubles, two triples and three home runs.
Shiner senior catcher Paeden Vincik was the player of the year on the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 2A all-state softball team. She hit .471 for the year with 17 doubles, eight home runs and 52 runs batted in for the 33-3 Lady Comanches.
Jonesboro junior catcher Emily Turner was the Class A player of the year. She batted .695 with 21 doubles, 12 triples, five homers and 55 RBIs for the 23-7 Lady Eagles, who won the state title.
