KAUFMAN—The Mabank Lady Panthers scored nine runs in the first inning on their way to a 16-5 District 14-4A win over the Kaufman Lady Lions, in a March 22 game that saw a switch of venue because of field conditions related to rain.
Kai Hudson led Mabank with four RBIs, also having four hits. To start, Hudson doubled in the first inning, driving in one run. Chloe Holland also hit a two-run home run in the first inning for Mabank.
In the third inning for the Lady Panthers, Savannah Phillips had an RBI single, Callie Davis hit a fielder’s choice that scored another run, Emory Groom picked up an RBI single, Hudson had a two-run RBI single, Phillips (batting around) singled in one more run and Presley Green had an RBI single. Hudson also had a two-run single in the fourth inning.
The Mabank offense generated 12 hits while Khilyn Wilkinson picked up the Lady Panther win on the mound, allowing her team to remain unbeaten in district play at 2-0.
