KEMP–The Lindale Lady Eagles came to Kemp for a March 27 District 15-4A softball battle, and when the dust settled, the visitors from Smith County emerged unscathed.
With Lindale up 1-0 in the top of the second inning and with two outs, the Lady Eagles added five runs courtesy of an RBI double from Abby Palecek, an RBI single from Makynli Zemer, a two-run RBI triple from Emma Watkins and an RBI single from Paisley Keith. That built the Lindale lead to 6-0.
In the top of the third, the Lady Eagles plated five runs. To do so, Palecek had an RBI single, Zemer used a two-run RBI single, Watkins employed an RBI single and Ava Wilson scored on a sacrifice RBI for Lindale to lead 11-0.
In the bottom of the third, Kemp got on the board and trailed 11-2 after RBI singles by Johnna Coldiron and Maddie Hainey. Then, in the top of the fourth inning (with the score at 12-2), Ava Grogan used an RBI single and Keith tapped a two-run RBI single as the Lady Eagle lead went to 15-2. At 16-2, Morgan Keenright had a two-run RBI double to extend the Lindale lead to 18-2, going on to defeat Kemp by that same score.
Next up for Kemp, the Lady ‘Jackets traveled to Athens to face the Lady Hornets of that city in more District action with a Tuesday, March 31 contest.
