KEMP–For April 12’s Senior Night, the Kemp Lady Jackets hosted the Mildred Lady Eagles for their final home game of the 2024 season, during which Danica Barnett and Laura Cabo were honored before first pitch.
The Lady Jackets cut into Mildred’s lead halfway through the contest, but the Lady Eagle offense kept their rhythm going and pulled away to defeat Kemp, 16-4.
AJ Huth scored first for Kemp when she came home on a throwing error to first base in the bottom of the first inning for the 1-0 lead.
The Lady Eagles had three consecutive RBI doubles and took a 3-1 lead with no outs in the top of the second. A 2-run RBI triple and an RBI single then extended Mildred’s lead to 6-1.
Mildred used an RBI double, an RBI single and a run on a wild pitch to lead 9-1 in the top of the third inning.
Brooklin Gibbons’ RBI double scored Allie Pringle for Kemp as the Lady Jackets trailed 9-2 in the bottom half of the third.
Cabo ran all the way home from first base on a throwing error and the score was 9-3 in the bottom of the fourth.
After Pringle’s triple, she scored on a groundout by Huth in the bottom of the fifth inning to make it 9-4.
Mildred put up five more runs in the top of the sixth, with three of them coming on wild pitches, and went on to defeat Kemp in six innings.
