Gun Barrel City leaders voted June 27 to enter a contract with the Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake for animal shelter services. The facility is open to the public for adoptions five days per week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is located at 10200 County Road 2403 in Tool.

County continues additional animal shelter funding

HENDERSON COUNTY–Commissioners’ Court of Henderson County voted Sept. 27 to approve an agreement with the Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake (HSCCL) for animal shelter services that continues additional county funding.
County Judge Wade McKinney said the court has discussed over the past several months the Humane Society and the services that are rendered through the Athens and Tool animal shelters. Last year, he continued, the court approved additional funding for the Humane Society through the end of fiscal year 2021.

Gun Barrel City orders the demolition of unsafe structures

GUN BARREL CITY–During the Gun Barrel City council meeting July 26, council approved the demolition of nine unsafe structures within the city. One property owner was granted time to repair his structure on Westview Drive. The other nine structures were deemed unsafe and ordered to be demolished after a public hearing. 
Council also interviewed two applicants for one position on the Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors. Applicants Jay Burson and Kate Weller both introduced themselves to council, with Weller receiving the appointment.
