Kerens Bobcats advance to area round

Congratulations to the Kerens Bobcats boys' basketball team, which won a UIL Bi-District championship Feb. 24 by beating Marlin, 54-44, at Navarro College in Corsicana. Next up, Kerens faces rival Cayuga in the Area round Friday, Feb. 27 in Cross Roads. And after beating Athens and seizing a spot in the UIL playoffs, the Mabank Panthers boys' hoops team fought hard but fell 58-50 in their first-round Bi-District playoff game Feb. 24 versus Longview Pine Tree at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Kerens comes back to beat Cayuga on Senior Night

KERENS–The Kerens Bobcats staged a second-half comeback on Senior Night against the Cayuga Wildcats Nov. 1, erasing a 13-0 deficit to win their second District 8-2A football game and remain in the hunt for the playoffs.
Kerens, 4-5 for the season overall, got things started in the third quarter when quarterback Muziq Gunnell threw a 24-yard pass to Jachi Rooks. After that, Gunnell ran 4 yards for Kerens’ first touchdown, reducing their deficit to 13-7.

Kerens baseball wins Bi-District championship

After a 14-0 District 20-2A title, the Kerens Bobcats baseball team wins the Bi-District championship in a sweep, shutting out Price Carlisle May 2-3 by respective scores of 5-0 and 3-0 at Bullard’s Brook Hill School. Kerens is scheduled to face Linden-Kildare in the Area round of the playoffs in a best-of-three series May 9-10 at Grand Saline.
