Rylee Spivey of Kerens, pitching April 5 versus LaPoynor, is named District 20-2A’s Pitcher of the Year.

KERENS–The Kerens Bobcats baseball team and the Kerens Lady ‘Cats softball team received recognition from District 20-2A coaches on the All-District list released in late May.
The baseball team, which is led by the 20-2A Coach of the Year, Cole Lancaster, was the 2024 undefeated district champion and advanced to the Regional Semifinals in postseason play. As for the softball team, the Lady ‘Cats won a Bi-District championship.
For that softball team, Rylee Spivey is the 20-2A Pitcher of the Year, Olivia Holt is the district’s Catcher of the Year and Ella Engel is the 20-2A Utility Player of the Year.
Four softball players also were named First Team All-District, including Kayla Gonzales, Brooke Sikes, Blair Blue and Jaidin Rickard. Further, Sarah Massey, Kynzee Elmore and Jaydin Brumit received Second Team recognition. Also, All-District All-Academic honors went to Holt, Blue, Engel, Kynzee Elmore, Abby Combs, Jasmine Cruz and Karla Orta.
For the baseball team, Kannon Ritchie is 20-2A’s Most Valuable Player, while Lane Lynch is the district’s Offensive MVP and Krayton Ritchie is the 20-2A Defensive MVP. Andy Conklin is a First Team infielder, Matt Rickard and Ryan Priddy are First Team outfielders, Adrian Solis is a Second Team infielder, Kooper Hill is the Second Team designated hitter, JJ Hightower is a Second Team utility player and Muziq Gunnell made Honorable Mention as an outfielder.
In addition, Academic All-District baseball players from Kerens feature Lynch, Priddy and Bradon Teafatiller.
