Lloyd Joe Thrasher, 82, of Mabank will be laid to rest at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023. Pastor Billy Smith will officiate. There will be an open visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  May 24, 2023 at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.
Lloyd passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family May 18, 2023. He was born August 18, 1940 in Ben Wheeler to Archie and Gertha Lorene (Conger) Thrasher. 
He accepted Christ as a teenager and was a member of Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens.

Sutton named contender in National Open Championships

Fifth-grader Anabel Sutton is representing Kemp Intermediate School at the Open Championship Bullseye competition in Myrtle Beach, S.C.June 8-10 after placing first in the bullseye competition at the Western National Championships last month. Kemp ISD states they are very proud of Sutton and her accomplishments.

Sheriff’s Office arrests suspect in April shooting death

CEDAR CREEK LAKE–Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse reported an arrest has been made in the shooting death of 25-year-old Alexis Garoutte that occurred April 21 in the Gun Barrel City area.
According to the report, Chaz White was taken into custody at his residence in Bonita Point at approximately 7:30 p.m. May 15 for the murder. The Henderson County Tactical Team made the arrest after a search warrant and arrest warrant were issued and signed by Henderson County 392nd District Court Judge Scott McKee.
