KISD teacher arrested for injury to a child

KEMP—A teacher for Kemp ISD was arrested May 8 and charged with injury to a child, according to a Fox 4 News report. 
According to the report, the child’s parents say that their child’s teacher, allegedly used force against their son during an attempt to discipline him in a classroom. 
The child’s parents were invited to the school to watch surveillance video of the incident. The video is now with the Kaufman County District Attorney’s Office, according to the report.

Kerens baseball wins Bi-District championship

After a 14-0 District 20-2A title, the Kerens Bobcats baseball team wins the Bi-District championship in a sweep, shutting out Price Carlisle May 2-3 by respective scores of 5-0 and 3-0 at Bullard’s Brook Hill School. Kerens is scheduled to face Linden-Kildare in the Area round of the playoffs in a best-of-three series May 9-10 at Grand Saline.

CEDAR CREEK LAKE—The Mabank ISD Bond was approved by voters during the May 4 election with 826 votes for the bond from Henderson County and 566 votes from Kaufman County. “It’s a great day in the land of the Panther! The Board of Trustees and I thank the voters for supporting the bond proposal. It is a great step forward for both the students and the entire Mabank ISD community. You have my commitment and the commitment of the Board of Trustees to continue being good stewards of your money as we move forward with construction.

Celebration of life funeral services for Odessa Cooper, 81, of Arlington, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, with Pastor Cass Bowker officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2024 at the funeral home.  
Odessa passed from this life April 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Feb. 26, 1943, in Grapeland to Eldridge Manson and Maudie Lee (Brinkley) Lambright.
