Cross Roads Marching Band placed second in Class 2A with a Division 1 Rating at the Teague Marching Invitational in Teague Saturday, Oct. 1. The bands' drum majors, Donna Stovall and Jeremy Fields, received Best Drum Majors in Class 2A. Cross Roads Marching Band advanced to finals, where they placed seventh out of 10. The band is currently perfecting their production of ‘Dreams of Persia’ for their UIL Marching competition in Mesquite Oct. 19.
AXTELL–The Kerens Bobcats fell to the Axtell Longhorns in their district contest Sept. 30 on the road.
The Bobcats came up a score short as the Longhorns edged them 28-21 Friday night.
The loss drops Kerens to 1-5 overall on the season and 1-1 in district play as the Bobcats currently sit in fourth place in the 2A-1 Region II District 7 standings.
Cayuga (5-1), Italy (3-3) and Axtell (3-2) sit ahead of the Bobcats in the standings with Rio Vista, Itasca and Cross Roads making up the bottom three.
