AXTELL–The Kerens Bobcats fell to the Axtell Longhorns in their district contest Sept. 30 on the road.
The Bobcats came up a score short as the Longhorns edged them 28-21 Friday night.
The loss drops Kerens to 1-5 overall on the season and 1-1 in district play as the Bobcats currently sit in fourth place in the 2A-1 Region II District 7 standings.
Cayuga (5-1), Italy (3-3) and Axtell (3-2) sit ahead of the Bobcats in the standings with Rio Vista, Itasca and Cross Roads making up the bottom three.
Kerens is set to battle first-place Cayuga (5-1, 2-0 district) in their next contest Oct. 7 on the road with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
