CEDAR CREEK LAKE–Payne Springs Fire Rescue (PSFR) reported the second drowning of the season on their social media, urging area residents and visitors to be cautious while enjoying the lake.
The drowning took place on July 1 shortly before the Thunder Over Cedar Creek Lake Airshow was to begin and was reported in the Woodcanyon Waters subdivision. As units responded, the call was upgraded to CPR in progress.

Mabank High School’s gym is receiving a facelift this summer before athletes come back to practice. A new logo and striping are being painted on the gymnasium’s floor which has also been refinished. The yellowed floors have been sanded and refinished to a lighter hue, modernizing and brightening the gym for this season’s home games.

Gun Barrel City leaders voted June 27 to enter a contract with the Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake for animal shelter services. The facility is open to the public for adoptions five days per week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is located at 10200 County Road 2403 in Tool.
