SEVEN POINTS‑The City of Seven Points City Council met Jan. 8. The temporary city hall had standing room only as this was the first meeting since the council last met Oct. 6, 2025. At that time, the council was unable to agree on a budget. However, they did agree to make payment on work completed at 422 E. Cedar Creek Parkway, where the now-closed Post Office stands.
Council Member Charles Longacre asked about a previous payment to The Wall Doctor LLC, who did the repair and paint work in question. Mayor Keith Betts answer was, “Well, we already paid him for the contract amount.” Longacre then questioned, “Somebody approved an additional $6,864, correct?” Betts said yes. Longacre continued with questioning who approved the additional amount without bringing it before the council. According to City Secretary Charlotte Witherspoon, The Wall Door LLC received a verbal agreement from Mayor Pro-Tem Valerie Bahm, for the additional $6,864. “So once again, we have a contractor telling us that we have council members approving expenditures outside of council approval. I just want to make sure I understood correctly what we were looking at here,” responded Longacre.
Witherspoon confirmed that The Wall Doctor LLC has agreed to lower the amount to $4,000, cutting his labor cost in order to get payment for materials used. Longacre motioned to pay The Wall Doctor LLC the additional $4,000 while Council Member Mary Wennerstrom made the motion to second.
In other business, the council:
• Agreed to table agenda item: review and ratify expenditures paid from Oct. 7, 2025, through Jan. 8.
