Members of the Rodeo Mabank Committee attend the July 8 city council meeting. Mayor Randy Teague commented, “This committee went above and beyond with all that they did [to make this rodeo successful]. A big thank you to the Rodeo Committee.”

MABANK‑Mabank City Council met July 8 for their regular monthly meeting. Mayor Randy Teague started the meeting by expressing condolences to the Hill Country area in reference to the devastation from flooding that took place in that area the Fourth of July weekend. Teague then used time to acknowledge those who were essential in making Mabank Rodeo successful.
Teague began with the introduction of the City Parks Department, saying, “These guys went completely above and beyond for our city over the course of the past several months, what I think you will see was the biggest event Mabank has ever hosted. This was a tremendous opportunity to have people into town and host a really good event, a wholesome family event and we can’t thank this department and team enough.” Continuing to talk about the City Parks Department, Teague said, “We had 16 inches of rain over the first few days in the month of June, so they were having to hustle to get things mowed and weedeated. From myself and from this council, thank you everyone for what you do for the City of Mabank.”
Moving on to the next group, Teague mentioned, “There is another group of young people that is here with us tonight. These are our Mabank High School FFA officers. These guys did a great job when we wrapped up the rodeo. They volunteered and were a big part of the kids corral, we could not have made it happen without them. We are actually in conversation with the new agriculture teacher on how we can incorporate the Mabank FFA into a bigger event next year. We are excited and we appreciate them and their efforts to make this a great week.”
Another group Teague introduced was the rodeo committee. “There were around 20 people on the rodeo committee. This committee went above and beyond with all that they did. We started the year with a clean slate and tried to think of how we wanted make Rodeo Mabank as big and as good as we could, with it being a wholesome family event for the whole community to be able to participate in. With the efforts of this committee, we accomplished those purposes. A big thank you to the Rodeo Committee as well.”
With the use of technology, the city was able to calculate how many visitors came out to the rodeo events. According to Teague there were over 14,000 cellphones which equates to approximately 17,700 people that came to Rodeo Mabank, giving an approximate economic impact of close to $1.3 million.
Teague shared his appreciation by saying, “A tip of the hat from myself and this council, thank you all for all your efforts to make this the outstanding week that it was.”
