MALAKOFF–The Malakoff Tigers made quick work of the Mexia Black Cats Oct. 27 in their final regular season home game to punch their ticket back to the postseason.
The Tigers had no bad luck against the Black Cats as they scored 27 points in the first half on their way to a 55-13 victory. The win was Malakoff’s seventh straight win with the Tigers’ last loss coming to Grandview Sept. 2.
The Tigers opened with four touchdowns in the first half as they led 27-0 at halftime.
The Black Cats managed 13 points in the second half, but the Tigers’ offense proved too powerful for Mexia to overcome as the Tigers strolled to victory.
The win moves Malakoff to 8-1 overall on the season as they remain undefeated in district play at 5-0. It also clinches the 14th straight playoff appearance for the Tigers. Malakoff looks to capture another district title in their final game of the season on the road against the Groesbeck Goats Nov. 5.
