The Gun Barrel Quilters Guild holds their annual quilt show May 1 at the CR Legacy Event Center in Gun Barrel City. Mabank Fire Department hosts 39th annual fish fry

The Mabank Volunteer Fire Department holds its annual fish fry May 2 in the fire station. The menu consisted of fried catfish, fried potatoes, hush puppies, pinto beans, and dessert. All the proceeds go to equipment the volunteer fire department needs to handle a disaster. Servers are volunteer fire fighters Mike Rowan, Kaufman County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Judge Johnny Adams, Kenneth Richmond and Kenneth Tanner.

Eustace golfer heads to second-straight State

Eustace junior Landry Huggins advances to the Class 3A girls' golf State championship at Austin's Jimmy Clay Golf Course May 4-5 after winning Regional runner-up at the Class 3A Region 2 tournament held April 15-16 in Bullard, shooting an 80 and 82, totaling 162 for the Regional. Huggins also competed at last year's Class 3A State Golf Championship in Austin.

The Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual car show and crawfish boil to benefit the Mabank ISD Athletic Booster Club May 2.
