Peggy Davidson Whisenant was born Oct. 18, 1933 in Chanute, Kan., a daughter of the late Frank and Mildred Moon Davidson.  
One of five children, Peggy grew up in Chanute where she was a graduate of Chanute High School in 1951.  
After graduating high school, Peggy completed several college business courses in Tulsa, Okla.  
On Sept. 2, 1956 two lives would become changed forever. It was on this date that she married the love of her life, Bobby Ray “Red” Whisenant in Chanute. A marriage that would span almost 66 years. A marriage that delivered 66 years of pure love and adventure.  
In the early years of marriage, Peggy worked for Ft. Worth and Denver Railroad as well as the Pullman Company.  
When Red graduated from college, Peggy left her employment and the two of them began their plans of building their own family. This led to Peggy and Red being blessed with their three children.  
Many years of living in Arlington created countless adventures and memories with “The Mafia” a group of friends that became so close and had such a unique friendship, they consider themselves family. 
Throughout the years and enduring the loss of seven of the original members, ‘The Mafia” has kept close contact with each other to the fullest extent possible. The remaining members of the Mafia, Red and John and Penny Smale are still close friends and the children of the Mafia crew continue the legacy through keeping in contact with each other.  
Peggy and Red began building their retirement home at Cedar Creek Lake in 1985 and in 1987 they moved into their house full time in Three Harbors.  
Peggy loved to be outdoors. Living on the lake Peggy developed a love for fishing and going for boat rides. She also loved to sew and was good at playing the violin. 
After settling into the lake house, Peggy and Red began attending the First United Methodist Church in Mabank. This would lead to a long and committed dedication to her church where she loved to volunteer and many great friendships blossomed. Over many years, Peggy enjoyed so many miles of travel and adventures with family and friends.  
For many years, Red and Peggy would take annual cruises and visit many different countries and destinations. She also loved the many trips that were taken with her children and family. 
For Peggy, the highlight of every year was the Davidson Thanksgivings/family reunion that was at a different family members house each year. Camping trips to Roaring River, cruises and overland trips and traveling overseas just to name a few of their adventures. She always looked forward to the weekends with her family down at the lake and she would make sure that everyone that visited her house felt loved and welcomed.  
Perhaps one of Peggy’s favorite things in life was the “Happy Hour” on the patio with Red and the great company of friends and neighbors.  
Peggy attended FUMC of Mabank until her health began to fail in 2013.  
Although Peggy could not attend church at FUMC Mabank, oftentimes, her church family would venture to Rockwall to visit her.  She is already and will continue to be deeply missed but we rejoice with the assurance that April 30, 2022 at 4:02 p.m., Peggy was called home to be re-born in the presence of her Lord and Savior.  
Peggy was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, sisters Nancy Sibley and Pat Brown and her brother Frank “Bud” Davidson.  
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the wonderful caregivers of Revere Court/Autumn Leaves, Pathway Hospice, Kemp Care Center and Solaris Hospice.  
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 66 years, sons Kirk Whisenant and his wife Tiffany of Arlington and Karl Neumann of Bedford, daughters Christy Whisenant of Euless and  Lori Day and her husband Mike of Royse City, grandchildren Jason Whisenant and his wife Traci, Greyson Whisenant, Taylor Kephart and her husband Chase, Dylan Day and his wife Brooke and Alyssa Day, great- grandson Luke Kephart, sister Diana Carter and her husband Phil of Pittsburg, Kan., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, her loving church family and a large host of other friends and relatives. 
Memorial services for Peggy Whisenant, 88, of Mabank will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church of Mabank with Rev. Dan Gurley officiating under the direction of Restland Funeral Home of Dallas.
