Malakoff pitcher Mike Jones is named the District Most Valuable Player.

CEDAR CREEK LAKE–Malakoff Tiger Mike Jones, who led his team to an unbeaten title in District 18-3A as a sophomore, has been named the district’s Most Valuable Player, while junior Cannon Kilcrease of the Eustace Bulldogs was named the 18-3A Offensive Player of Year.
Also for Malakoff, Jack Hustead was named District Newcomer of the Year. Other Malakoff postseason honors include Corey Phillips, who is second-team Academic All-State, as well as Kaidan Holyfield, who made honorable mention Academic All-State.
For Eustace, CJ Grogan joined Kilcrease on the Bulldogs’ list of honors by being named first-team All-District catcher. Adan Maltos received first-team All-District as a utility player, Ish Maltos is a first-team infielder, Ryan McKee and Brody Sutton were named second-team outfielders and Carter GoDair made the second-team infield list.
More Malakoff players receiving All-District honors include Jaxson Jedlicka, who is a first-teamer pitcher, along with Judson McNaughton and Wyatt Wallace, who are on the first-team infield list. Corey Phillips also received honors as a first-team outfielder, as did Jason Tennyson. Malakoff’s Gus Magee is a first-team All-District designated hitter.
Malakoff Tigers also getting postseason honors are Asa Mondragon, who was named second-team All-District pitcher, as well as second-team All-District outfielder Kaidan Holyfield, who joined second-team All-District catcher Loden Jamison.
In addition, Eustace released the names of Bulldogs who made the 18-3A Academic All-District team. Those players include Jordan Faz, Carter GoDair, CJ Grogan, Cannon Kilcrease, Adan Maltos, Ish Maltos, Ryan McKee and Brody Sutton.
