KERENS–The Kerens Bobcats swept the LaPoynor Flyers in early April, run-ruling their opponent in the process by identical scores of 15-0 and staying atop their district with an unbeaten 20-2A record.
Kerens then defeated another district opponent, Trinidad, in an April 12 home doubleheader, 15-0 and 21-0. The Bobcats have beaten their district opponents by a combined score of 144-2 over eight games, with seven of those shutouts.
Beforehand, after defeating the Flyers on the road April 2, the Bobcats returned home April 5. Kerens pounced on LaPoynor in the first inning, scoring 9 runs. In the second inning, Ryan Priddy bunted home Kobe Bailey for a 10-0 lead, then Lane Lynch doubled off the left-field wall to score Priddy and Matthew Rickard.
The Bobcats added to their 12-0 lead in the fourth inning, highlighted by Lynch’s 2-run home run, to end the game early.
