Lady Bulldogs go winless at home tournament

The Eustace Lady Bulldogs fall 39-32 to the Whitney Wildcats and go winless at their host basketball tournament Dec. 8-10. 

EUSTACE–The Eustace Lady Bulldogs varsity girls’ basketball team went without a win at their host tournament Dec. 8-10 at Eustace High School. 
Eustace opened with a contest against the Whitney Lady Wildcats Dec. 8. 
Emma Reynolds kicked off the scoring for Eustace with an and-1, giving the Lady Bulldogs a 3-0 lead. 
The Lady Bulldogs struggled after that first basket as the Lady Wildcats rattled off a 10-0 run to take a 10-3 lead. 
Sadie Jo Long added a late offensive rebound but Eustace still trailed 10-7 after the first quarter.
Eustace managed just five points in the second quarter as the Lady Wildcats led 18-12 entering halftime. 
A jump shot from Reynolds, along with a free throw, cut the deficit to 23-17. Emma Fisher added two free throws to make it a 28-19 game.
A steal by Elizabeth McCord set up a basket by Emma Bell as Eustace trailed 30-21 entering the fourth quarter. 
Eustace got late baskets from Aurora Powell, Fisher and Bell but the Lady Wildcats proved too strong as they fell 39-32. 
Reynolds led the Lady Bulldogs with nine points and Bell finished with eight points. 
Eustace would fall in their second game to the Longview Lobos 59-24 as they dropped both their contests on tournament weekend. 
The Lady Bulldogs currently sit at 4-4 overall on the season.
