Mabank dominant in season opener against Quinlan

MABANK–The Mabank Panthers put on an impressive performance in their first game of the 2022-23 season against the Quinlan Ford Panthers Nov. 15 at home. 
The Panthers executed in all four quarters as their offense held strong throughout on their way to a 70-34 victory over Quinlan. 
Mabank jumped out to an early 4-0 lead. Quinlan battled back to cut the deficit to 8-7 before an and-1 by Jordan Flores pushed the lead back to 11-7. Eli Pyle finished the quarter with a three-pointer as Mabank led 17-12 entering the second quarter.
A 5-3 start to the second quarter by Quinlan forced a Mabank timeout as the lead was down to 17-14. 
Luke Carter quickly pushed the Mabank lead to 24-14 with a layup and a three-pointer. 
Another layup by Hagen Tijerina and a steal by Flores to set up a three-pointer by Trace Donnell gave Mabank a 31-14 lead at halftime.
Carter and Pyle opened the second half with back-to-back three-pointers to increase the gap for Mabank to 39-16. A layup by Tijerina made it a 41-16 score, leading to another Quinlan timeout. 
Ty Bruton added two straight three-point shots for Mabank as they were dominant in the third quarter, outscoring Quinlan 29-14 as they took a 60-28 lead into the fourth quarter.
Bruton added two free throws and a layup to start the fourth quarter as Mabank continued to build their lead to 64-30. Carter and Pyle added two late threes as Mabank cruised to victory in their first game of the season.
Carter led the way offensively for Mabank, finishing with 21 points in the win over Quinlan. 
Bruton added 10 points with Tijerina notching nine points for Mabank.
