Malakoff Lady Tigers defeat Palestine at Mabank during the season opener doubleheader at Mabank.

MABANK–The Mabank Lady Panthers and Malakoff Lady Tigers volleyball teams opened their seasons with a doubleheader with Palestine at Mabank Aug. 8.
In the first matchup of Mabank against Palestine, the first set went to the Lady Wildcats by the score of 25-16. In set two, Mabank played a tight one and evened the match at 1-1 with a 27-25 victory. The third match was also close but saw Palestine come out on top, 25-22. In the fourth set, Mabank pulled within two points at 17-15, but Palestine closed the match with an 8-1 stretch and defeated the Lady Panthers 25-16 for a 3-1 victory.
Palestine then played Malakoff in a close game. The first set brought victory to Palestine 25-21 and the second evened the score with Malakoff on top 25-21. Palestine took the third set, also 25-21, and Malakoff took off from there, winning the last two sets 25-10 and 15-11, giving Malakoff the overall win 3-2.
In Mabank’s game against Malakoff, the Lady Tigers prevailed in the first set, 25-22. Mabank won the second set at 25-18 to even the match. In tight games, Malakoff took both the third and fourth sets, 25-21 and 25-22, to defeat the Lady Panthers, 4-1.
