MIDLOTHIAN–The Mabank varsity cross country teams are off to a great start this season. The Panthers competed Sept. 1 at the Midlothian Invitational and continued their success.
The boys, who finished second and third in previous meets, brought home the team championship. 
The Panthers were led by senior Caleb Penney, who finished eighth while running a personal best of 18:03. The team also used strong performances from junior David Deatherage 11th (18:38), and sophomores Juan Aguirre 12th (18:52), Pablo Garcia 12th (18:56) and Esau Garcia 25th (19:35) to complete the team scoring. 
The Lady Panthers, who finished first and second in their previous meets, took home second as a team. Mabank was led by sophomore Trista Etheridge, who finished third (13:01) overall.   
The team used solid runs from junior Felicity Torres who placed 14th (14:13), Teagan Etheridge 17th (14:23), Sara Garcia 21st (14:36), as well as Lisset Gallegos and Camryn McDonald to complete the team scoring.    
Mabank will be completing at the Canton Running Eagles meet Saturday, Sept. 10. The meet is located at the First Monday parking.
