MALAKOFF–Malakoff head football coach Jamie Driskell is the Class 3A Coach of the Year, according to the Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Football Class 3A list, released Feb. 13.
Driskell, who has been the Malakoff head coach since 2009, led his team to its first-ever football state title Dec. 14 with a 14-7 victory over two-time defending champion Franklin, capping off an undefeated 16-win season.
Six Malakoff players also received All-State recognition. Tiger senior Chauncey Hogg is first-team All-State in the secondary, joining players from Grandview, Hooks and Tidehaven.

For the first-team All-District defense, Malakoff players from its front line include Garcia and junior Michael Elliott, along with linebackers Parker Poteete and James Studley, both of whom are juniors.
