MABANK—The Mabank Panthers welcomed the Henderson Lions to Panther Stadium Oct. 10 for a District matchup during their Pink Out game.
After starting their opening possession around midfield, the Lions would eventually strike first with a 9-yard touchdown run by Jesstin Starling to make it 7-0.
It was 13-0 Henderson after Starling’s 4-yard rushing touchdown and a missed extra point with 6:46 left in the first quarter.
At 5:01, the punt snap to Ray Brager went over his head and the Lions took over at the Panther 3-yard line. Starling ran into the end zone again for the 20-0 lead. With 2:36 left in the first quarter, Amauri Murphy’s 49-yard touchdown reception built the lead to 27-0.
Gavin Foote picked up an interception and Mabank took possession into the second quarter, but they would punt on the ensuing drive.
Starling recorded his fourth touchdown of the night with a 48-yard run to make it 33-0 after a missed extra point with 10:25 remaining until halftime.
Lemarion Coleman’s 64-yard touchdown catch extended the Lion lead to 40-0. Following a big run by Starling, it was 47-0 with 5:22 left until the break after Jayden Bishop’s one-yard rushing touchdown following a facemask penalty against the Panthers.
The Lions led 54-0 at halftime after Corey Harper intercepted Jaxon Copeland for a pick-six.
Henderson went on to defeat Mabank by the final score of 61-20.
Mabank (2-4 overall, 0-2 in District) heads to Tyler Chapel Hill Friday, Oct. 17 to face the Bulldogs.
