Kerens’ Muziq Gunnell (No. 2) is named District 7-2A Utility Player of the Year, while Isaiah Carter (No. 5) makes the first team on offense and defense.

KERENS–The Kerens Bobcats, following their 6-5 season in 2023 that included a 4-2 record in district play and a berth in the playoffs, placed 10 players on the District 7-2A All-District list, the school announced on social media Nov. 28.
Kerens superlative selections are headlined by the district’s Utility Player of the Year, junior Muziq Gunnell. Quarterback Lane Lynch, a senior, was named to the first team. Other first-teamers on offense include senior Antonio Rodriguez, sophomore Isaiah Carter, junior My’Kel Lattimore and junior Daniel Lewis.
As for defense, Kerens’ Carter and Lewis, who also made the list for offense, were named first-teamers on that side of the ball. Also featured on the defensive first team are juniors David Limon and James Cooper, along with senior Aaron Spence.
All-district defender Limon also found his name on two first-team position lists, the second being as a first-team special-teamer. Kerens senior kicker Adrian Solis also made the special teams’ first-team rankings, joined in that same category by sophomore Isaiah Jordan, who made honorable mention.
Kerens second-team All-District performers on offense are senior Ryan Priddy, senior Kobe Bailey, freshman D’Mari Payne, junior Cannon Elmore and sophomore Kooper Hill. On defense, the Kerens group of second-team All-District players features Solis and Bailey, as well as seniors Hunter Crawford and Brayden May.
Kerens football players also received district-wide recognition for their classroom performance, as Priddy, Bailey, Lynch and Rodriguez were named Academic All-District.
