Henderson County proclaims May 15-21 as EMS Week

HENDERSON COUNTY–Commissioners’ Court of Henderson County voted May 3 to proclaim May 15-21 as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week within the county, lining up with the national celebration during the same time frame. National EMS Week was first authorized by President Gerald Ford in 1974.

Kerens ISD approves solar project payments

KERENS–Kerens ISD trustees voted April 25 to make payments to a financial advisor and law firm for their services to help navigate a tax value limitation agreement pertaining to the Goodalta Solar Project, which is planned to be built in the district.

Texas Reskilling Grant available for TVCC students

HENDERSON COUNTY–There is help for students who are wanting to return to school through the workforce education program. The Texas Reskilling Grant is still available for eligible TVCC students through the workforce education division.

Quilters Guild hosts “Spirit of Texas” themed quilt show

One of many Texas themed quilts were displayed during the Gun Barrel City Quilters Guild show held April 29 and 30 at the CR Legacy Event Center. This quilt took home the award for First Place Home Machine. It is entitled Texas Cabins and was made and quilted by Carol Fogleman.

Missing Mabank man recovered from lake

CEDAR CREEK LAKE–After being reported missing, the body of 71-year-old Vary Sounthivong of Mabank was found in Cedar Creek Lake near Tom Finley Park.  A concerned citizen made the call to law enforcement concerning Sounthivong’s disappearance around 8:30 a.m. April 20.
