CEDAR CREEK LAKE–November is election season for several cities around Cedar Creek Lake, some electing officials while others vote on propositions.
In Gun Barrel City, the long-awaited race for mayor includes candidates Debbie DeLeon and Brian Crull.
In Tool, the race for mayor and two city council seats will be decided. Running unopposed for mayor is Councilman Mike Dumont. On the ballot for council is Councilman Michael Fladmark who is seeking reelection. Vera Bennet and Mayor Tommy Lawhon run for council as write-in candidates.

Motorcycle driver loses life in accident with 18-wheeler

CEDAR CREEK LAKE–Mabank motorcyclist Robert Stickinger lost his life in an accident involving an 18-wheeler on Farm-to-Market 85 west of Seven Points Oct. 13.
According to a Department of Public Safety (DPS) report, Stickinger, 50, was operating a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle headed west when a 2008 Kenworth Truck Tractor towing a trailer turned left in front of him into Farm-to-Market 2613. The 18-wheeler was driven by 33-year-old Kyle T. Harmon of Merryville, La., according to the DPS initial investigation report.
