County lifts burn ban, disaster declaration

HENDERSON COUNTY–Commissioners’ Court of Henderson County approved lifting the drought-related disaster declaration Aug. 23, which the county has been under since late July.
In addition, according to the county’s official Facebook page, County Judge Wade McKinney followed that by directing County Fire Marshal Shane Renberg that McKinney would lift the countywide burn ban that has been in effect since June 21.

King announces retirement as TVCC President

ATHENS–Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) President Jerry King, Ed.D announced his retirement from the college Aug. 15.
King will retire at the end of the spring semester following his 45th year of service to the institution.
“After much thought, reflection, discussion and prayer, I have made the decision to retire at the end of the spring semester on May 31, 2023,” King said.
TVCC trustees approved the retirement Monday night.
