During the Mabank Athletic Booster Club awards ceremony held May 4 at the Dr. Russell D. Marshall Performing Arts Center at Mabank High School, Panther seniors Luke Carter (from left, Co-Male Athlete of the Year), Lindsey Cope (Female Athlete of the Year) and Gunnar McGilvra (Co-Male Athlete of the Year) receive the top honors as the booster club celebrates the 2025-26 sports year. Cope also earned the girls' powerlifting MVP award (as well as being named Girl Lifter of the Year in the Lightweight Division), won volleyball MVP and was recognized with a Panther Heart award for girls' track. Carter won boys' basketball co-MVP after an illustrious hoops career at Mabank, while McGilvra was named Golfer of the Year for the Mabank High School boys' golf team, which won the bronze medal at the Class 4A State Golf Championship near Austin, leading the team by shooting a 148 over the two-day tournament held April 27-28.
