John C. Stewart, Lt Col US AR Ret, was born in Huntsville, Ark., Nov. 28, 1932.  He went to be with the Lord Aug. 22, 2022.
He attended the University of Arkansas and spent his entire career in the insurance field with Employers Casualty, Safeco, American United Life and Cologne Life Re.  
John was the commander of the 519th Maintenance Bn in Dallas for six years and was a graduate of the US Army War College class of 1977.

Melinda Ann Walters Van Horn

Body

Melinda Ann Walters Van Horn came into this world May 17, 1949, daughter of Marge and Morey Walters in Hollywood, Calif. Melinda went to be with the Lord in one of his many rooms Aug. 10, 2022.
Melinda was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Joyce Lucas and Cynthia Sperry.
She leaves behind her husband of 53 years John E. Van Horn, son Jeffrey and wife Tamra, grandsons Gavin and Cameron, who were the love of her life and dog Lulu.
Melinda graduated from W.T. White High School in 1967 and attended Stephen F. Austin. She loved trips to Colorado and Cabo.

Rita Faye Tennyson

Rita Faye Tennyson, 58, passed away Aug. 7, 2022. She was born Feb. 6, 1964 in Dallas to parents Earnest McLeod and Juanita Weeks McLeod.
She met her husband, Jack Tennyson and they married June 10, 1980. 
Rita loved her children Yvonne, Josh and Ethan with all her heart. Spending time with her family was one of her favorite things to do. 
She really enjoyed going to church in the courtyard at her apartment complex, where she made many friends. She will be dearly missed by many people and never forgotten.

D’lana “DeeDee” Lyn Thompson

D’lana “DeeDee” Lyn Thompson, 56, of Seven Points passed away Aug. 6, 2022. D'lana was born April 22, 1966 to parents Glenn Meredith and Reba Bonsal in Los Angeles, Calif. 
On Sept. 20, 1986, D'lana married the love of her life, Todd in Gun Barrel City. She was a devoted and loving wife, sister, aunt and friend who loved spending time with her family, especially Todd. 
D'lana was adventurous and vibrant, she loved being outdoors, walking along the creeks, hunting for treasure, collecting rocks and sticks.

Carl Michael Hicks aka Mike Hicks, loving father of two children passed away July 31, 2022, at the age of 81. Mike was born Oct. 20, 1940, in Odessa to Dave and Wyvon Hicks.
He married Phyllis Puckett Jan. 25, 1962 and they raised two daughters Johanna Renee Stuckey and Tonya Davon Hicks-Burke.
Mike founded and ran Motors and Mores Inc from 2002 until 2017. Located on the main street in Midlothian, he made many friends and served the transportation needs of his clients.

Daphna Sue Daniels, 58, of Kemp went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ July 30, 2022. Daphna was born to Gary Thornton and Delois Jock June 12, 1964, in Murchison. 
She attended the small school with her sisters Tammy and Connie. Daphna participated in FFA and enjoyed playing on the basketball team.

Brian Lewis Beck, 14, of Mabank, entered into eternal rest July 27, 2022, at the tender age of 14. Brian was born Aug. 13, 2007 to parents Jonathan Alan Beck and Rachel Michele Hackett in Peoria, Ariz. 
He was adventurous and charming, his smile and laughter was contagious. Brian loved fishing, playing with his brothers, riding bikes and making music. He attended the Mabank district, where he met several close friends. Brian’s memories will be cherished in the hearts of those he met and knew in his lifetime.
Brian was preceded in death by his grandmother Edwina Hackett.

Charlotte Beth McDonald, 86, of Tool, passed away July 25, 2022. Charlotte was born July 26, 1935 to Charles Clinton Hill and Dora Orlena Green. 
She married the love of her life Charles David McDonald June 22, 1972 in Mesquite. 
Charlotte was a caring and doting wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. 
She had a huge and kind heart, one that loved taking care of others. This special characteristic gave her the inspiration needed to perform her due diligence each day for 60 years, as a confident nurse.

BoJames Markes Shewmaker, 38, of Eustace passed away July 26, 2022. B.J. was born Jan. 21, 1984 to James Ray Shewmaker and Hazel Kathileen Massey. 
He was a caring and doting son, brother, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his beautiful family. 
B.J. was adventurous and diligent. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Christian by faith, he praised his Lord at the Zion Hill Full Gospel Church. B.J. will be truly missed by all of those he met and knew in his lifetime.
B.J. was preceded in death by his sister Geneva Annette Shewmaker Gorum.

Kenneth E. Barnett Jr.

Kenneth E. Barnett Jr. left this world July 24, 2022. He was born in Dallas Aug. 4, 1956 to Kenneth E. Barnett and Mary Lou Barnett.  
He is survived by his mother, sister Cheryl L. Duckworth, brother Randy K. Barnett, ex-wife Sandra K. Young who is the mother of their four sons and six grandchildren.  
Ken was always happy, a good friend and a loving father to his sons and his grandchildren. Kenneth lived in Mabank for the last three years and he will be missed by all.
