Multiple people indicted in deadly truck crash

KAUFMAN COUNTY–A truck driver at the wheel that killed five people on I-20 near Terrell was indicted on multiple charges by a Kaufman County grand jury this past week. A company official for the trucking company, Hope Trans, was also indicted for felony forgery.

Former Eustace police officer sentenced

ATHENS–Former Eustace police officer Cody Mitchell Burris was sentenced July 31 to the maximum sentence of 20 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and a $10,000 fine for Possession with Intent to Promote Child Pornography, according to Henderson County District Attorney Jenny Palmer.

Tool considers park funds for police station remodel

TOOL—During the regular Tool City Council meeting held July 17, the council discussed allocating funds from the park construction account towards the remodel of the Tool Police Department. Currently the funds in the park construction account are just over $36,000.
