Eustace man pleads guilty, sentenced to probation

SMITH COUNTY—Chad Crowell of Eustace who was charged with Direct Activities of Street Gang which is a first degree felony, pled guilty Feb. 6 and was sentenced the same day to six years’ probation. 
According to Smith County judicial records, Crowell was arrested in April 2024 for his connection to the murder of Brandon Edwards of Arp and was accused of leading a motorcycle club called the Ugly Man Cossacks. Crowell pled guilty to giving orders which resulted in the death of Edwards and accepted a sentence of six years’ probation. 

Doors open on the CleanUp Bus

The CleanUp USA bus parked in the parking lot at Lakeview Assembly of God Church in Seven Points is to provide personal hygiene for those who do not have access to showering facilities. The bus is open every Friday, but if needed it can be used any day, just go to the church office for entrance to the bus or call (903) 432-2682.

Multi-vehicle collision in Tool

A multi-vehicle accident occurred Feb. 1 along State Highway 274 in Tool in front of Fig’s Backyard. According to a release provided by Tool City Administrator Julius Kizzee, “Curently, the Tool Police Department is working a motor vehicle incident that occured on Feb. 1. Details of the incident are currently under investigation. We will release information as it becomes available.”

Metroplex doctor found dead after vehicle crashes into lake

MABANK‑Mabank Police Department (MPD) responded to the 17000 block of eastbound U.S. Highway 175 in reference to a vehicle crash Feb. 1 at approximately 1:30 p.m., according to a department release.
The deceased occupant was later identified as Bradley Michael Leonard, 68, stated the MPD release. The Monitor confirmed that Leonard was a Fort Worth-based cardiologist, according to Advanced Heart Care Director of Clinical Operations Ashley Butler, who is based in Plano.

Man charged in death of Cedar Creek Lake-area infant

HENDERSON COUNTY—The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) says it was contacted by Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth Jan. 28 in reference to an infant possibly being abused. 
According to a press release, the Henderson County Crimes Against Children Task Force began an investigation into the infant’s condition. 
During the investigation investigators learned the infant’s father, Paul Gonzalez, allegedly caused the injuries.
