Mabank Lady Panthers move to State round

Officers make an arrest for criminally negligent homicide

GUN BARREL CITY—Gun Barrel City Police Department responded to 346 Flagship Lane at approximately 4:08 p.m. Feb. 23 in response to a shooting. 
According to a press release, officers located Mackenzie Wisdom, 22 of Gun Barrel City with a gunshot wound. Wisdom was transported to UT Health Cedar Creek Lake where she succumbed to her injuries. 

Mabank Council considers tiny home resort proposal

MABANK–Mabank City Council met Feb. 11. The meeting began with citizens’ comments, expressing gratitude toward the city workers that clean up after storms. Another citizen was thanking the city for the Telehealth services and how it has helped his family since they do not have insurance. City of Mabank Mayor Randy Teague acknowledged these citizens comments with, “any time citizens make comments, they are certainly worth while because we do have groups of folks here that work through out our city that truly do love this town.

Man arrested at GBC Walmart after making terroristic threat

GUN BARREL CITY—At approximately 6:33 p.m., Feb. 15 Gun Barrel City (GBC) Police Department responded to the GBC Walmart located at 1200 W Main Street regarding an armed male threatening to “shoot up the store.” 
According to a press release from GBC Police Department, officers located this individual inside the store and identified him as John Thomas Martin, 22, from Kerrville. 

County replacing jail lift station

HENDERSON COUNTY–Henderson County Commissioners’ Court voted Feb. 11 to award a contract to remove and replace lift station pumps at the Henderson County Justice Center “to preserve and protect public health and safety,” according to the meeting agenda.
After discussion, the court found that agenda text to be true and hired Mosby Mechanical of Longview to do the job in Athens for $63,300.
