Area man gets life in prison for motorcycle gang death

TYLER–After a Smith County jury found a Henderson County man guilty Jan. 17 of a first-degree felony in relation to what the jury believed was giving orders that led to the 2020 shooting death of a motorcyclist near Tyler, the court then followed that conviction Jan. 21 by sentencing him to life in prison.

TYLER–After a December mistrial because of a hung jury, a fresh Smith County panel voted unanimously Jan. 17 to find an area man guilty of a first-degree felony in relation to what the jury affirmed as giving orders that led to the 2020 shooting death of a motorcyclist near Tyler.

Mabank Education Foundation awards approximately $30,000 in grants to educators Jan. 7. The grants are for innovative teaching using various forms of technology, hands-on activities, field trips and a theater arts program.
