Man arrested at GBC Walmart after making terroristic threat

GUN BARREL CITY—At approximately 6:33 p.m., Feb. 15 Gun Barrel City (GBC) Police Department responded to the GBC Walmart located at 1200 W Main Street regarding an armed male threatening to “shoot up the store.” 
According to a press release from GBC Police Department, officers located this individual inside the store and identified him as John Thomas Martin, 22, from Kerrville.

GUN BARREL CITY—After the Gun Barrel City Police Department received multiple calls about a white male wearing a hoodie with an emblem on the back breaking into vehicles and taking property in the Arbalado, Willow Wood and Mantle Manors neighborhoods the department announced on social media he has been apprehended. 
Officers announced that, “after reviewing video footage, officers recognized the individual and set out to locate him.” According to the report, Investigator Ruiz made contact with the suspect Nov. 25, and he fled on foot.

Pier 334 breaks ground

Members of the Gun Barrel City Economic Development Corporation and YNS Development Services prepare to break ground on the Pier 334 Development Oct. 14. The development will consist of a marina, splash park, amphitheater and fishing pier. There will also be a boutique Hilton Tapestry hotel, banquet hall, restaurant and coffee shop in addition to a food hall building which will house up to four additional restaurants.

Harbor Point Road to be closed for reconstruction beginning Oct. 5

GUN BARREL CITY–Beginning Saturday, Oct. 5, HK Contracting will begin Phase I of reconstruction of Harbor Point Rd. 
Reconstruction and paving of Phase 1 will include from Highway (HWY) 334 (Main Street) down 2,300 feet North to the end of Lakeview Elementary property. There will be no through traffic allowed on Harbor Point Road during this time.
This project is taking place during the fall break for Mabank ISD in order to have the least amount of traffic disruption.

Cyclist hit and run on U.S. 175

GUN BARREL CITY–A bicyclist was killed Aug. 19 by a hit-and-run driver on the U.S. Highway 175 overpass spanning the State Highway 334 intersection, Gun Barrel City Police Department said.
