May 6, Mabank High School’s boys’ golf team wins third place in Texas Class 4A at the UIL State Golf Championship at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland (west of Austin) after two days of play, including golfers Lawson Shackelford, Trace Donnell, Jacob Steele, Cameron Van Horn, Gunnar McGilvra and their coach, Jeff Sutton.

Kerens High School’s Blair Blue wins the Class 2A Region III Championship by 14 strokes at the Regional tournament held April 14-15 at Cherokee Ranch Golf Club in Jacksonville. This is the second year in a row that Blue is a State golf qualifier. The Class 2A State girls’ tournament will be held April 28-29 at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin.
